Lyrics by Morning Glories Drummer
*Song- Morning Glories
Verse 1-
When I was young I’d chop cotton in the Arizona Sun
Like an oven baked in heat, sweat ran down my back
Morning Glories, sprouted late, filled with hate, they’d choke the fields I was in
Chorus-
Can I just borrow, today’s sorrow, and give it back once I have learned
Always beaten, labeled a cretin,
morning glories choked my mind
Verse 2-
A summer ends, I rejoice, I count my meager pay
Rhythms inside me, a percussive soul, I want to drum these morning glories away
Into town, a blood red kit, I believe it was a Saturday
Bridge-
Now I’ve grown older, a 90s kid, trying to make my way
Jamaican rhythms, grunge rock scene, I remember when I was young
My youth calls, music inside, I ran away from the boy I knew
For a season I digressed, became depressed, morning glories choked my mind everyday
I’ll stop fighting, society climbing, that box I threw away
Chorus-
Can I just borrow, today’s sorrow, and give it back once I have learned
Always beaten, labeled a cretin,
morning glories choked my mind
