Lyrics by Morning Glories Drummer

Verse 1-

When I was a boy I’d stare out the window, watching cotton rows while driving by

The sun at dusk illuminated the horizon, those cotton fields shone under the sky

Summertime, just a kid, I’d walk down the rows chopping cotton in the heat

Like an oven, Arizona sun, take a dip in irrigation pools with a friend

Pre-Chorus-

Then I grew up and I was hurt, when did life become so complicated

When the hurt gets bad, I take the sad, and think back to cotton fields as a boy

Chorus-

Cotton Fields are forever

Cotton Fields are forever

Cotton Fields are forever

When the war is won

Verse 2-

Young guns walking up and down each row, we’d talk of girls and the future

Innocent’s bliss, naive at best, with no clue of the pain I would one day know

At days end, a peace so still, only physical exhaustion knows

Crash in my room, a nap and a dream, of the peaceful cotton fields forever

Pre-Chorus-

Then I grew up and I was hurt, when did life become so complicated

When the hurt gets bad, I’d take the sad, and think back to cotton fields as a boy

Chorus-

Cotton Fields are forever

Cotton Fields are forever

Cotton Fields are forever

When the war is won

Bridge-

I became a man, and found out life didn’t hold to plan

Anger ignited, it’s not fair, why can’t life run straight like a row

Cotton fields understand my pain, that’s why they’ll always grow

To lend peace to a wounded man, my dream of cotton fields forever

Chorus Repeat
